Bruce Valliant Appointed to Raymond James' Sustainable Investing Advisory Council

Bruce Valliant, Registered Principal and Managing Partner of Valliant Wealth Strategies, has been appointed to the Raymond James Sustainable Investing Advisory Council (“the council”), according to Samantha Trebesch, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Raymond James and council chair.

Raymond James’ approach to sustainable investing is collaborative in nature across all business segments and heavily influenced by advisor feedback, including the council, which is comprised of a select group of 16 financial advisors across the firm’s affiliation models. Established in 2018, the council’s mission is to continue to enhance the firm’s sustainable investing capabilities and resources made available to the firm’s approximately 8,200 advisors and their clients, according to Kim Jenson, Chief Operating Officer of Raymond James’ Private Client Group and executive sponsor of the firm’s sustainable investing initiatives.

“Positive asset flows continue to reinforce growing interest in sustainable investing, providing our advisors the opportunity to further engage our high-net-worth clients in deeper relationships through impact investing, tying to their philanthropic efforts, and engaging the next generation in the wealth transfer through meaningful conversation around values and legacy building,” said Jenson at the council’s February 2021 meeting.

“We’re very pleased with the progress of the council to date in advancing our sustainable investing insights and platform, namely expanding choice to advisors and clients in building positive impact through their portfolios,” Trebesch added. “We’re excited to welcome Bruce Valliant to the council. His appointment builds on the excellent work Valliant Wealth Strategies has started in integrating sustainable investing with its clients’ investment processes.”

“Growing up and living in the unique, delicate eco system that is Maryland’s Eastern Shore naturally lends itself to the tenets of sustainable investing,” said Valliant, whose environmental expertise includes tenure as treasurer for the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy and active support of Shore Rivers. “The Valliant Wealth Strategies team and so many of our clients are intrinsically connected to the ecological appreciation that permeates day-to-day life on the Eastern Shore — from where we live, to what we eat, to how we raise our families.”

In addition to Bruce, the Valliant Wealth Strategies team includes his wife Mary Ellen Valliant, AIF™, Founder and Managing Partner; Nicole Caringal, AIF™, CFP, Senior Vice President and Financial Advisor; Sherry Sunkler, Vice President of Client Services, and Annie Snyder, Assistant Manager of Client Services.

Valliant joined Raymond James in 1998 and has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Valliant Wealth Strategies opened its Chestertown office in 1997. The Valliants reside in Grasonville, Maryland, have three adult children and a black lab named Charley.
